Biography
Girls are Robots is an electro band from Los Angeles, California made up of 2 feisty music producers who stay up late and drink too much caffeine. The band formed in late 2008 and consists of Dan Apke (vocals, guitar, bass, synths, samples), and Kyle Gibson (vocals, synth) and for live performances are accompanied by Brian Sumwalt (Drums) and Aaron Cohen (guitar). The band is not afraid to mix styles or overstep musical boundaries and is often compared to The Faint, Depeche Mode, innerpartysystem and Does it Offend You, Yeah? They also admit influences ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Mute Math.
The band's debut EP has had over 1,000 downloads from the band's website since its release this past fall.
The self-released debut titled "Thirst While Drowning" provides testament to how they can be equally a rock band as they are dance-beat architects. The EP features acousti-electro introspection with tracks Long Ride (03) and Dk World (08) and other more vigorous moments with the dance-inducing beats of All Because of You (06) and spiteful cries of A Million Miles Away (05).
